The Most Holy Name of Mary

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Parents of our High School-Age Youth!

May the Good Lord continue to bless and strengthen you as you continue to bless and strengthen his own greatest treasures: the dear children He Himself has entrusted to your care.

As the Catechism teaches us: the family is the first school and parents are their children’s first teachers in the ways of Faith. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t get a little help and support from the Church! And here at St. Mary’s we have a wonderful opportunity right around the corner.

Karen Weber and her devoted core team of Youth Group volunteers have been working very hard to plan our second annual Fall Youth Retreat: "Inspired to be Merciful." They’ve modeled the weekend on our own very successful Christ Renews His Parish retreats and they’ve invited campus ministry students from Franciscan University of Steubenville and Franciscan Sisters and Friars to join us!

Our weekend will begin on Saturday, November 5th with registration at 8:30 am in the school entrance way and conclude with a special blessing for our participants and their families on Sunday the 6th at 1 pm. In the course of two days, we’ll be learning about the Works of Mercy through prayer, skits, discussions, games, movies and personal witnesses – and we’ll have lots of good food, too!

Our retreat is open to all High School Age Youth – Catholic and non-Catholic alike, so your children are more than welcome to invite their friends to join them.

If you would like more information, have any questions, or would like to help out or donate some snacks, then please give Karen a call at (260) 223-3138.

And please join us, starting now, in praying for a beautiful and powerful retreat that will inspire all of our young people – and our entire community through them – to be merciful like Jesus.

May Every Blessing be Yours!

Fr. Bob J. Lengerich

Pastor – St. Mary of the Assumption, Decatur
